Carols On the Doorstep

When? Wednesday, December 16th, 6pm

WHERE? Your Doorsteps!

HOW? Sing along with the radio!

Join us on your doorsteps across the nation this Christmas to sing carols together and spread some much-needed cheer! Carols on the Doorstep started in Shropshire but is spreading far and wide as more local radio stations come on board. See if we’re in your area yet! If not, why not become a street co-ordinator and help us bring it to you?

We’re asking the whole nation to get behind us in raising some much-needed Christmas cheer this year. With massed gatherings, lights switch-ons and town centre carols events cancelled across the land, there’s a risk that Christmas 2020 could be very quiet.

So let’s all make a noise on our doorsteps on Wednesday, December 16th and join our neighbours in singing Christmas carols – staying in household bubbles of course and obeying the restrictions where you live! The carols will be broadcast on local radio stations across the UK to help us all stay in time and carols sheets and simple sheet music are available to download here.

We’d love you to help by organising your own street and encouraging friends and neighbours to sing and play along (See How to Get Involved).

Covid-19 restrictions – which tier are you?

We don’t want you to break any rules whilst you are singing so have produced this helpful guide

NB These are not the full list of rules for each tier, only the section relating to meeting people outside

TIER 1

You must not socialise in groups larger than 6 people, indoors or outdoors, other than where a legal exemption applies. This is called the ‘rule of 6’

TIER 2
You must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space – this is called the ‘rule of 6’

tier 3

You must not meet socially indoors or in most outdoor places with anybody you do not live with, or who is not in your support bubble, this includes in any private garden or at most outdoor venues.

You must not socialise in a group of more than 6 in some other outdoor public spaces, including parks, beaches, countryside accessible to the public, a public garden, grounds of a heritage site or castle, or a sports facility – this is called the ‘rule of 6’.
