A New Christmas Tradition

In 2020, Doorstep Carols was broadcast on more than 30 local radio stations and covered by BBC Breakfast News, Channel 5, The One Show, and BBC Midlands Today and in national press. It led to amazing scenes of participation from individual streets and neighbourhoods up and down the country and raised tens of thousands of pounds for local and national charities.

In 2021 & 2022, it grew even bigger, with supporters including: Sir Tim Rice and Suzi Digby, BBC local radio stations, Street Theatre, Popchoir, Ex Cathedra and cathedral choirs across the country - with linked events in hospitals, prisons, care homes, cathedral cloisters - with Popchoir in Trafalgar Square, featured on BBC Breakfast News and under Concorde at British Aerospace.

Sadly, without more support from the BBC in 2023, the team is not able to guarantee the carols will be played across the nation; we anticipate that people will use our free resources to organise their own Doorstep Carols neighbourhood singalongs and they can also join in with BBC Radio Shropshire's Carols in The Square, broadcast via BBC Sounds on Wednesday, December 13th at 6pm.
